I didn't want to hijack !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! but I am disappointed to learn how illegal all my lights are where I live. That discussion prompted me to find !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! where I learned that when I had fog lights, they were illegal. Because they aren't a foot off the ground. Also, I already knew my HIDs weren't legal because of the cutoff, but I guess they're also supposed to let me see 200ft in front of me. So I guess my stock lights were illegal too, cause I couldn't see anything with them. Hence the HIDs. Can't find out what color range is acceptable around here though. Anybody know? I've heard that a cop will hold up a sheet of white paper in front of your light and see if it "turns a color". But around here, they must be pretty dang lenient, because douchebags drive around with bright purple fake HIDs all the time....

That was my rant. What are your lights like? Pictures appreciated. The picture above is not my car. A dream car, yes... but not mine.

Pretty illegal I guess. my head lights are stock, but my HID fogs are "illegal". I'm pretty sure anything other than oem color is illegal. I run 5000k which is close to stock as you can buy cool blue intense osrams which are legal and are 5500k.

At least you can just turn the fogs off and pretend you only use them off-road...

As for color temp. 4000-4500 is the proper range, if your doing fogs depending on state you can go to 3000. 3000 is yellow. 4k-4.5k is suposed to imitate daylight. 5k and up are blue.

reminds me of the guy who had to fight the state because his stock G8 tail lamps were judged illegal.

What's the benefit are you getting from having HIDS in your fogs anyway?

4300K is OEM, and easily available.

I have projectors retrofitted into my headlights, but the housings leaked and they're cloudy now. Planning to go back to stock headlights soon.

I have HID projector retrofits on both my marauder and my bronco. Are they illegal? yes. Is the gov't the one driving around at night with shitty 9007 headlights? No. Have I been harassed for these? No.
Also, the color range of legality is 3700-5800k (puts 6000k right out of the running). I have 5000k in both.

I run E-codes, which aren't technically legal here. But, they are adjusted well, so it doesn't bother anyone. It's either run them and barely see, or run sealed beams and have no hope of seeing whatsoever.

i know just saying u can buy osram bulbs at 5500k as a std legal upgrade. kinda like silverstars aren't oem color back in the day.

idea wasn't to really improve the light but just get the bulbs the same colors. I don't like it when the HIDs are one color, DRL/fogs are halogen color.
changed out the DRLs to cree LEDs and the 5000k HIDs. turns out the HID fogs really did improve everything slightly.

The fogs are supposed to be a different color, to provide better contrast for what you're seeing up close, and what you're seeing far away.

valid point. I had 3000k fogs on my e46. went with matching this time around
